Blairfield Realty’s Holiday To-Do List

Holiday To Do List-03

There’s no denying it: the holidays are in full swing, and as part of the countdown to Christmas, Blairfield Realty has compiled some information to help you make the most of the coming weeks.

So tell Scrooge to pack his bags, and find your inner Mr. Fezziwig with Blairfield Realty’s Top Ten Holiday To Do list:

1. Shop Local

Find that perfect something for everyone on your list while you support Austin’s local merchants. Check out Do512’s holiday gift ideas, and keep your dollars in the local economy.

2. See the Lights

Give your eyes a treat by viewing one of the many holiday light displays in our fair city. Rebecca Darling, a freelance travel writer who lives in Austin, put together this handy list of light displays.

3. Get Your Dose of Culture

Ballet Austin is back with its 52nd annual production of The Nutcracker, a beloved seasonal favorite. Zach Scott has received rave reviews for its new musical version of A Christmas Carol. And for a unique experience, check out the Blue Lapis Light Aerial Student Showcase.

4. Volunteer

There is nothing that will get you in the holiday spirit more than giving back to your community. See Community Impact Newspaper’s list of volunteer opportunities in Central Texas.

5. Enjoy Music and Film

Whether you love to carol or prefer to listen to the sounds of the holidays, Austin offers an abundance of live music for every taste. One thing you might want to check out is the Austin Symphony’s new series called “Christmas in the Community.” Concerts are free and run through December 22, culminating with a performance at the State Capitol.

The Austin Chronicle will always keep the film lovers out there up-to-date with information about special screenings to help you celebrate the season.

6. Indulge

Come on, live a little—it’s the holidays! Need inspiration? Austin Eater will help give you a nudge in the right direction.

7. Make the Holidays Happier for Someone Less Fortunate

Sponsor a family, give a toy to a child, or donate a coat. Giving City Austin has put together a list of the many opportunities that exist in Austin to spread some holiday cheer.

8. Support an Artist

Buy one-of-a-kind gifts while you’re supporting Austin’s many talented artists at one of these holiday bazaars and craft shows.

9. Get off the Beaten Path

Do something different this year. Take a drive in the Hill Country and visit Johnson City’s 25th Annual Lights Spectacular. Or explore the wineries of the Texas Hill Country during the 2014 Holiday Wine Trail event.

10. Dream of a White Christmas

Even if it’s warm outside, you can still sip hot chocolate and go ice skating on Whole Food’s rooftop plaza.

From everyone at Blairfield Realty, here’s wishing you and yours safe and happy holidays!
