  • Gal who likes to kick up her heels, take her out to Luckenbach Texas for the Mother’s Day w/ Jimmy Lee Jones show, happening from 1 to 5pm. Willie Nelson himself once referred to Jones as “the best kept secret in Texas.” He’ll be backed by a full band, and you can’t beat the price: free!
  • Woman who likes to be pampered (and really, who isn’t?!), we love Viva Day Spa, Milk + Honey, and the Natural Way for their massages, facials, and other luxurious treatments.
  • Culture lover, Ballet Austin is presenting the classic tale of love and loss, Swan Lake, at 3pm at the Long Center. Featuring live accompaniment from the Austin Symphony Orchestra and some of Ballet Austin’s most promising stars, it’s sure to please both young and old.
  • Craft beer connoisseur, check out the Craft Beer Austin calendar for a list of breweries and tap rooms with tours and tastings. Don’t forget your designated driver!
  • Art lover, take her on the West Austin Studio Tour, happening May 9-10 and May 16-17. This free, annual, self-guided event introduces participants to local Austin artists and artisans and gives them access to working studios and exhibition spaces. The event is divided into four categories: Artists & Studios, Exhibitions, Happenings, and Select Events, and hours may vary according to category; check out the WEST 2015 website for details.
  • Live music fan, the great Boz Scaggs will be performing at ACL Live at the Moody Theater. Scaggs has enjoyed a remarkable music career spanning nearly five decades, and his new album, A Fool to Care, has gotten great reviews. The Moody is the perfect venue in which to enjoy his soulful voice and lyrics.
  • Outdoorsy or adventurous type, rent a standup paddleboard or water bike, go on a zipline adventure, or spend the afternoon at Barton Springs or one of Austin’s many fabulous swimming holes.
  • Foodie, brunch is always a tried-and-true favorite way to celebrate Mother’s Day. Check out the Austin Eater for a list of the hottest spots for brunch in Austin. Yum!

You know what’s great about Austin? We’ve barely scratched the surface with this list. Whatever you decide to do with your mom for Mother’s Day, the truth is that she’ll love it, as long as she’s spending it with you.
