If you’re the parent of a youth soccer player in Austin, you’ve no doubt traveled at least once to the Westcreek soccer fields for a practice or game. But did you know that Westcreek is also the name of the neighborhood that runs adjacent to the fields?
The neighborhood of Westcreek is bounded by Old Fredericksburg Road to the north, Westcreek Drive and Yellow Rose Trail to the east, William Cannon Drive to the south, and Fair Valley Trail, Steer Trail and Honey Dew Terrace to the west. First developed in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, it has around 800 homes within its boundaries, with most ranging from around 1300 square feet to 2700 square feet. Some condominium properties are also available.
Westcreek provides easy access to major thoroughfares as well as a variety of shopping and restaurant options. Yet despite its close proximity to MoPac and Hwy 290, the neighborhood itself is very quiet and has a secluded feel, with tree-lined streets and larger lots than some newer communities. It also has a close-knit community and an active neighborhood association, which in recent years has worked with the city to improve its green space. As a result, Westcreek now has its own pocket park/greenway, with a nature and trail area behind Summerset Trail and Cana Cove.
AISD students who live in Westcreek attend highly-regarded Patton Elementary, Clint Small Middle School and Austin High School. The middle school has recently gained notoriety for its new Green Tech Academy, which has attracted middle schoolers from around the city.
Westcreek is also popular due to the somewhat lower entry point for homebuyers with an average list price of $274,425 (Sept 2016).
