Calling all Foodies!

Get ready for one of the best weekends of the culinary year! At the end of April, two of Austin’s favorite annual events will take place, each showcasing the eats and drinks of the city’s best chefs and restaurants.

First, Thursday, April 27 marks the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden & Museum’s 19th Annual Garden Party. This year’s theme is “Under a Texas Sky,” and guests can look forward to sampling delights from 25 of Austin’s iconic restaurants including Maudie’s and Moonshine, both of which have been participating in the event since it began in 1998. Twin Liquors will provide wine pairings to match the chefs’ creations.

The event serves as a key fundraiser for this vital Austin artistic institution and will include both a silent and live auction, as well as creations by local artists and Austin businesses. Music will be provided by the Nash Hernandez Orchestra. Tickets are $175.00 each or for $200, include admission to not only the Garden Party, but also unlimited access to the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum for one year.

If you really want to go all in, VIP tickets are $550 and include admission for two to the event as well as valet parking and access to the VIP reception prior to the main party. The VIP reception will feature cocktails from Tito’s Handmade Vodka and the Garrison Brothers along with light bites, courtesy of Mongers Market + Kitchen.

The UMLAUF Sculpture Garden & Museum showcases the work of world-renowned Austin-based sculptor, Charles Umlauf, and is located at 605 Robert E. Lee Road, next to Zilker Park. Find out more about the event here.

Then on Friday, April 28, the Austin Food and Wine Festival kicks off and continues through the weekend. Taking place at both Auditorium Shores on the banks of Lady Bird Lake and at Fair Market (located at 1100 E 5th St), the annual event features up-close and personal access to culinary, wine and spirit-making talent at dozens of cooking demos, wine and cocktail seminars. The Grand Taste Pavilion will showcase more than 50 of the finest beverages from across the nation, along with 40 food artisans from Austin and beyond. In addition, visitors can purchase cookbooks and get them signed by the chefs themselves in the Autograph Tent.

A Weekender ticket ($250) gives full access to the 40-plus cooking demos and tastings, plus all-day access to the Grand Taste Pavilion, including the Chef Showcase and Sunday Gospel Brunch. The All-In ticket ($625) includes everything that the Weekender offers, plus access to special grilling demos and evening events. Be aware that the festival is 21 and over only, no exceptions.
