July 4th at Vic Mathias Shores: An Austin Tradition You Don’t Want to Miss!
Looking for a fun and family-friendly event to celebrate the July 4th holiday? After your neighborhood parade, cookout or swim party, put on your red, white and blue and head down to Vic Mathias Shores (formerly Auditorium Shores) for the 39th annual July 4th Concert and Fireworks sponsored by H-E-B. One of the city’s most beloved traditions, the event features a free live musical performance, great food and drinks, local arts and crafts and a spectacular fireworks display.
The celebration will take place in front of the Long Center for the Performing Arts, so be sure to come early to claim a grassy spot. Vendor booths open at 4pm, followed by a concert of symphonic patriotic classics performed by the Austin Symphony at 8pm. Then enjoy a beautiful firework display over the Austin skyline at 9:30pm.
There is paid parking available at the Long Center and the One Texas Center Parking Garage, and free parking at the TXDOT parking lots (the entrance is on E. Riverside, just east of Congress Avenue). Capital Metro is also running special MetroRail service from the Leander Station and increasing the frequency of its MetroRapid service.
Mark your calendars now for an Austin evening you don’t want to miss! For a list of items you can and cannot bring, road closure information or other details, check out the event website. From everyone here at Blairfield Realty, happy Independence Day!
