A Free, Professional Shakespeare Production? Yes, and It’s Now Playing at a Theatre Near You!
Take advantage of the beautiful springtime weather by heading down to the Beverly S. Sheffield Zilker Hillside Theatre between now and May 28 to see William Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors.” One of Shakespeare’s earliest plays and most farcical comedies, it’s a fast-paced tale of mistaken identities centered around two sets of identical twins that were accidentally separated at birth. Their eventual encounters with the friends and families of their twins lead to a series of wild mishaps, including wrongful beatings, a near-seduction and false accusations galore.
If you haven’t been to the Zilker Hillside Theater, just being there is half the fun. Located across from Barton Springs Pool, this outdoor theater is the perfect spot to take a picnic and enjoy an evening under the stars, all while experiencing high-quality professional theatre. And what’s more, the show is free!
“The Comedy of Errors” is brought to you as part of Free Shakespeare in Zilker Park, a collaboration between the City of Austin and Austin Shakespeare that’s now in its 33rd year. Performances are scheduled Thursday – Sunday at 8pm through May 28. For more information, visit the info page on the Austin Shakespeare website.
