Austin Film Festival: celebrating the art of storytelling through film October 26 – November 2
If three days at ACL with 75,000 of your closest friends sounds like a bit more than you can take, consider another favorite Austin event that’s a bit on the tamer side: the Austin Film Festival. Running from October 26 through November 2 and now in its 24th year, the AFF brings together writers, directors, agents, managers and executives, producers — and of course, people who love film.
Film pass and badge holders will enjoy eight nights of regional, national and world premieres ranging from highly anticipated Hollywood fare to breakthrough independent films. And for people who are in (or aspiring to be in) the film biz, there’s also a four-day conference featuring more than 175 panels, workshops, roundtables, and pitch sessions covering both the art and the business side of film, TV and new media.
This year’s centerpiece films include Lady Bird, written/directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Saoirse Ronan, Laurie Metcalf and Tracy Letts; and Centerpiece: The Current War, starring Tom Holland, Nicholas Hoult and Katherine Waterston, with director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon in attendance. As an added treat, many of the screenings will feature Q&As with cast members and filmmakers.
Be sure to keep checking the AFF website for updates to the full lineup, information about which pass or badge is right for you, and much more.
