If you’ve already spun under the Zilker Tree and walked the Trail of Lights three times now and are still in need of some more holiday cheer, you might want to check out these two events, one of which is brand new this year:
Winter Wonderland at the Circuit – Now through December 30, head to the Circuit of the Americas, where millions of lights illuminate a magical world that includes a skating rink, human snow globe, singing trees, a petting zoo, camel rides, Santa’s Workshop, carnival rides, a hot air balloon float, movies on the lawn, a tunnel of lights and more! This event, in its first year, is open daily from 6 pm to 10 pm Sunday through Thursday, and 6 pm to 11pm Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $16, and children age five and under are free.
Ice Skating on the Plaza at Whole Foods – For 13 years, Whole Foods Flagship store (5th and Lamar) has been delighting Austinites and visitors alike by turning its rooftop plaza into an ice skating rink. The rink is open daily from 10 am to 9 pm through Monday, Jan. 15, and on Fridays, you can enjoy a skating soundtrack courtesy of KUTX. The cost is $10 per person and includes skate rental. There are some closures for private parties and the like, so be sure to check out the website for details.
