On Saturday, September 22, Blairfield Realty President, Donna Blair, Vice President, Tamara Carlisle, and several of their friends gathered at Hotel Ella in support of Step Onward Foundation, an Austin non-profit dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness.
Founded in 2006 by musician/producer/activist Patrice Pike and Todd Young, Step Onward’s mission is to break the cycle of homelessness for young adult survivors of childhood homelessness and for families put at risk of homelessness through their children’s health crises. It does so by identifying and filling resource gaps either independently or in collaboration with partner organizations to help recipients transition to total independence. These range from education, housing, and wellness resources, to advocacy and mentorship.
The concert dinner fundraiser featured a fabulous live and silent auction, live music by Patrice Pike’s Band and special guest Susan Gibson, and stories from some of the many Step Onward recipients whose lives have been forever changed as a result of the foundation’s work.
