Although the couple moved to Austin from Mississippi 13 years ago, they lived in rental properties until recently. But with a lease about to end and a baby on the way, they decided to take the plunge into home ownership—and they needed to move fast.
They knew just whom to call: Donna Blair. Patrick, a painter/artist, had held his first show Austin around six years ago. Donna bought a piece, and the rest is history. As Patrick put it, “When the time came for us to think about buying a house, Donna was the natural choice.”
That’s not to say the process was entirely hurdle-free. Patrick and Marci made an offer on one of the first houses they looked at, but it came back appraised low, and the initial lending fell apart. The couple thought they were going to have to come up with huge chunk of cash just six days before closing. Instead, Donna helped them work with the seller, find a new lender and get a new appraisal—and a much better interest rate. “She saved the deal for us,” said Marci. “In the end, her gamble paid off, and we felt great knowing we didn’t have to start over from scratch.”
She went on to describe how Donna also kept them calm from start to finish. “She called every time at just the right time, either with her assurances that things were going smoothly, or to explain the next steps she was going to take to resolve any challenges. While we were holding our breath, she was nurturing and confident.”
Summing up their experience working with Blairfield, Patrick said, “Buying a home can be time consuming and scary, with lots of moving parts and pieces. It really comes down to trust. Donna putting her stamp of approval on everyone involved made us move through the process quickly.”
Marci added, “Without Donna, we would have been constantly second guessing ourselves. She did wonders with a tight time crunch and budget, holding our hand while everything was happening at once.
