Be sure to mark your calendar for the 2019 West Austin Studio Tour (WEST), happening May 11–12 and May 18–19 from 11am – 6pm.
This free, annual, self-guided art event provides an inclusive and accessible platform to meet the artists and artisans who contribute so much to our city’s vibrant and dynamic culture. Tour-goers get an inside view of artists’ working studios; learn more about their tools, techniques, and inspirations; and engage in conversations around art and the artistic process.
This year’s tour includes 111 artists and 57 guest artists in studios, as well as 74 exhibitions in dedicated spaces, 93 exhibitions in temporary spaces, 11 happenings, and eight libraries. Big Medium, the non-profit behind WEST, also produces the East Austin Studio Tour, the Texas Biennial, and Creative Standard, as well as presents innovative exhibitions throughout the year in the Big Medium Gallery. Through its programs and partnerships, Big Medium is “working to foster the arts and facilitate an inclusive cultural dialogue between artists and their communities.”
