The Austin music scene has long been an important part of the fabric of our city. But a rising cost of living, coupled with the fact that many Austin musicians are self-employed, means that many low-income working musicians do not have access to adequate healthcare. That’s where HAAM comes in. HAAM, the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, has helped more than 4,900 musicians access over 56,000 healthcare appointments since its inception in 2005. From dental work and doctor visits to mental health services, eye exams and hearing screenings, Austin musicians have received more than $44 million worth of much-needed healthcare services, thanks to HAAM.
On Tuesday, September 24, show your support for this important organization by coming out for HAAM Day. HAAM’s biggest fundraiser of the year, HAAM Day brings together customers, businesses and music lovers across the city. You’ll enjoy more than 200 performances from local musicians, and with venues donating a portion of their daily sales to support HAAM, you’ll be doing your part to keep Austin musicians healthy. To find out where to eat, drink, shop, and listen to live music on HAAM Day, visit the event website.
