For quite some time, Lockhart, Texas has been known as the Barbecue Capital of Texas – and with good reason. Home to Black’s Barbecue, Chisholm Trail BBQ, Kreuz Market, and Smitty’s Market, everyone can agree that it’s worth the 35 mile-trip to check out one (or several!) of these institutions.
But Lockhart is home to much more than just barbecue joints. Blairfield President & Owner, Donna Blair, and Blairfield VP, Tamara Carlisle, have been spending lots of time there lately — due in part to their recent real estate investments in the town, but mostly because they just love it! Here are some of their favorite spots:
Dining and bars
- Loop and Lil’s (107 North Main Street) – This family- style restaurant serves hand-tossed pizzas, fresh salads, hot sandwiches, delicious desserts, and Texas craft beer. And the service is oh-so-friendly!
- The Pearl (110 North Main Street) – Situated in a 121-year-old building just off the historic courthouse square, the Pearl features a full bar, beer and wine, and live music. And the building where it’s located has had a bar in it for almost 80 years!
Lodging
- Ellison House – Historic 4BR boutique boardinghouse built in the 1860s and recently restored, with modern farmhouse design
Culture and all-around fun
- Lockhart Arts & Craft (113 N. Main Street) – Imagine a bar, studio and community center, all wrapped up into one! That’s Lockhart Arts & Craft.
- Gaslight-Baker Theatre (216 S. Main Street) – Serious theatre, with a history dating back to 1920. Check out the season schedule.
There’s a lot going on in Lockhart these days; this list barely scratches the surface. But why take our word for it? Head on down and see for yourself—you’ll be glad you did!
